About Miko Arts
My name's Miko Zen, I'm a life-long maker of artwork, in all different forms & media, with really no end in sight.
Don't worry about the scope of my artwork - There's always a common theme which is the passion and inspiration I felt in the moment while making them. That's why some of my works of art almost seem like atom-bomb explosions of color, while others are very sophisticated and intricate.
Often times I think that the ways my mother (Herbal Practitioner) and my father (Engineer & Lawyer) were so different, shows up in my artwork. Looking up to both of them while growing up, along with my 9 older brothers and sisters, seemed to make me feel quite insane as a teenager and young adult - But now I realize every day how many openings of mind these perspectives provided my art-life.
I credit my works of emotional uncontrollability and wild passion to my mother and to an Earth-like feminine force, and my works of sophistication and intricacy to my father and to a Sun-like masculine force. Sometimes I see both of these forces fusing together, sometimes I see them diverging as much as you might not talk to your partner for days. :D lol … But these conversations are always inside me, and making artwork is the only way that I can give them a voice.
Titling my artwork is very important, because I view pieces of artwork like poems. Visual Poems. Sometimes it's difficult for me to describe exactly what a painting might mean, in words, so if you have any questions about the inspiration or story of a particular work of my art, always feel free to ask me. Unlike many of my artist and poet heroes, I'm very much alive, living in Albuquerque New Mexico, and will happily return your call or email.
Kindest Regards,
Miko Zen
